Hike Cape Split NEW!
Departing the cruise ship pavilion, we'll tour through historic Halifax before heading out to Scott’s Bay, the start of the trail out to Cape Split, a headland located on the Bay of Fundy. It is a continuation of the North Mountain range, which separates the main part of the Bay of Fundy from the Minas Basin.
The Cape itself is seven kilometres (four miles) long and ranges between several kilometres to several dozen metres in width. Both sides of the headland end in high cliffs overlooking treacherous tidal currents in the Minas Channel.

A popular hiking trail on Cape Split has existed for decades and takes approximately two to two and a half hours each way to the tip of the headland. Most of the Cape is heavily forested, but the tip of the peninsula is a meadow, providing excellent long-distance views in good weather. The cliffs at Cape Split are actively eroding and potentially dangerous. The height of the cliffs is over 200 feet (70+ meters). There are several worn and eroded paths that appear to be trails, but actually lead to steep edges with loose soil and rocks underfoot.
Cape Split is a great hike to a spectacular view of one of Nova Scotia's most famous rock formations. This can be a long walk for the un-experienced hiker, but it is well worth the trip. Estimated time of this excursion is seven hours, but your guide, Greg, will ensure you see all and do not miss your ship.
This Private Pre-BookeD tour is fully narrated by your guide and will take an estimated 7 hours (+/-) to complete.
