Halifax Shore Excursions and Day Trips

Shore Excursion I: Peggy's Cove - St. Margaret's Bay

Book Now

Tour I incorporates an orientation of historic Halifax as we make our way to Route 333 and Peggy’s Cove for a one hour visit.  Leaving Peggy’s Cove, we will stop and visit the Swiss Air Flight 111 Memorial.

Saint Margaret's Bay

After the Swiss Air Memorial your tour takes you along the scenic shoreline of St. Margaret’s Bay, we’ll have driving visits to both cottage country and a modern, up-scale residential community on the shores of the Bay.  There is a rest stop in Tantallon, Acadia Maple Products.  Along the way tales of churches/religion, rumrunning, bootlegging, vast oil wealth, Bob Hope and more.

Hubbards

Hubbards, like many communities on the South Shore, was/is a successful fishing community.  During the Cold War, it was home to naval radio station CFS Mill Cove, and is the birthplace of J.D. Shatford, a partner of John D. Rockefeller.

The village of Hubbards has more than ten white-sand beaches nearby and is a popular summer residence destination with numerous cottages, inns, campgrounds and restaurants.  The Canadian television series  Black Harbour was shot on location in Hubbards between 1996 and 1999. We’ll pause for lunch (on your own) at the Trellis Cafe in Hubbards, which has been “serving real food since 1985".  Following lunch, we’ll have a short drive through the community before beginning our return to dockside.

Weather permitting, we’ll retrace a portion of Route 3 to Tantallon and travel back to Halifax via Route 103.

This Private Pre-BookeD excursion tour is fully narrated by your guide and will take an estimated 6.0 hours (+/-) to complete including approximately 75 minutes for lunch.
